Rathmines Women's Refuge provides emergency accommodation for up to 10 women, with or without children, who are escaping domestic violence. The refuge accepts self referrals and referrals from any agency by phone 24 hours a day. Support is provided through a compulsory key worker system with daily meetings initially. An individual care plan is drawn up for each family. Residents have access to a crisis counsellor, a free legal advice service, child care workers, community care social workers, GP, public health nurse, and CWOs. Residents must hand in medication to staff on arrival and must use the refuge's GP. All school age children must attend school daily. A back garden and playroom is available for use.
Referral Procedure: Self or agency. Phone 014961002 (24 hours a day). Information required includes family details, PPS number, GPs name, maiden name and contact person.
Referral Agencies: We accept self referrals and referrals from any agency.
Vacancies: Varies. Waiting list of 4-5 families.

Support: 9 full-time and 2 part-time staff, panel of relief staff, 2 volunteers, 24 hour waking cover. Compulsory keyworker system (2 families per worker), meetings daily at first, then every other day. Individual care plans. Support for children provided by 2 child care workers. Specialist staff available to provide support on alcohol and drug issues.
Health: Counsellor and community care social worker available. GP visits once weekly. Public health nurse visits on request. Visits from CWOs. Domestic violence social workers on teams.
Public Transport: Address and travel directions given on acceptance.
Equal Opportunities: Written harassment policy, complaints procedure and confidentiality policy.
Resident Access: Must be in by 12.30am (Sun-Thurs), 1.30am (Fri-Sat).
Visitors: Yes, women visitors only in visitors room. No overnight guests.
Disabled Facilities: Rails in bathroom.
Tenure: No formal agreement. Compulsory keywork meetings. Must take part in cleaning rota. Must only attend the refuge's doctor.

Units: 10 rooms (3 by 6 bed, 4 by 5 bed, 2 by 3 bed, 1 by 1 bed) All rooms have a cot.
